" I was one of those war protesters but agree with you 100% on the sentiments expressed above. You were too young then to really understand what happened. Far too complicated to go into now. But from my left wing, i will say dont confuse flag with what the country stands for. Thats always a danger. And always have a skeptical eye for the left wing but also for governments, militaries, corporations and large organizations of any type. Today it is much clearer than then. Troops have overwhelming support and respect. But it doesnt change the fact that Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and the rest failed at what they tried to accomplish. I know that some of the neocons like Bill Kristol saw this coming with Defense Department's War on the Cheap policy. Frankly i think that the neocons bought into regime change and democratization but not WAR LITE. See what i have been trying to get at the last few days. Bush was right strategically and his people in government let him down. Folk who saw Rummys strategy as failed should have quit in protest or spoken out or do i dare say leak or speak to the press. Thats your problem now. We have discredited neocons who i still believe were largely correct and an insulated bureacracy with a commander in chief too controlled by karl rove to step out and do the right thing now and let some heads roll. Yes George you are talking to the wrong father. The holy father cant help you but George Herbert Walker Bush may just be able to. Colin to clean up defense and win the peace and a new guy for State.
