And no doubt it will continue to do so. Not indefinitely, though. The planet in no way can support 6+ billion people living as we do in the US. When the per-capita rates do eventually coincide, we will surely see a much-reduced level of consumption here.

My point is that all this "investment" analysis should take resource limits into more immediate account. If, as Machinehead said on his Capital Stool post: "...people...are living an antiquated and doomed lifestyle...." I wonder if much economic or, more immediately 'investment' analysis isn't fatally backward looking.
