Bush said that the events were "horrendous" and said the perpetrators would be punished. One form of apology is expressing regret. What more do you ask? He did not personally commit these crimes.

Do you expect him to say "I am personally responsible"?


What happened to The Buck Stops Here? With this president, the buck stops everywhere BUT here.

It wouldn't take much to say that he is sorry that his troops participated in this kind of torture. It's very different to say that you "don't support torture" than to take some responsibility for the actions of your men that YOU are in command of. In some ways, he IS personally responsible. We wouldn't be there if not for him and his obsession. And his perpetuating the idea that Iraqi are evil and the "bad guys" wasn't lost on some of his soldiers.

When you guys talk about Sadaam torturing his own people, do you think that he was doing it personally? Is he also not responsible?
