Stop it, please, Ish. Being photographed while being forced to simulate homosexual sex is not anything to joke about. Some might prefer death, and you have no reason to doubt that.

Hi Ish; Re: "Please massa, burn me to death, don't force me to be neekid."

Apparently standing around nekkid is a real humiliation for Iraqi men. But heck, to VOLUNTEER for the US military you have to stand around buck nekkid for longer than I was comfortable.

From what I understand, the reason these Iraqis were willing to do these various shameful things is that they were threatened with more physical punishment. So I can't see how they can claim it was "worse than Saddam", when they pretty much appear to be fairly unbeaten. Maybe they figured that if they resisted, they'd be beaten, and THEN humiliated anyway.

I think that the photographs have had a special power because of their resemblance to fetishistic pornography. In that context, it appears very degrading. One of the things to ascertain, though, is the context. Certain things are reprehensible as ordinary interrogation techniques that would at least be mitigated if, for example, one were seeking information from bombers about their colleagues plans, and trying urgently to save lives. Everything has to be taken into account in a just disposition of the matter.......
