That's an interesting perspective, and I don't think I've seen it or heard it expressed in those terms anywhere else.

Elites in Europe see the writing of change on the wall and it frightens them. I disagreed with Friedman's take today that "they all hate us." I have an enormous influx of young Japanese couples coming through Waikiki every week, and they love us. I wondered what your take on the Italians was.
