In general, if you beat someone to within an inch of their life, they will probably tell you anything you want to hear just to get you to stop beating them...

And then you'll be forced to discern whether or not what they told you was accurate or not...

But sometimes it works.. especially when the detainee/prisoner has disdain for you and perceives that he can defy you openly without fear of physical harm..

This was the case with that Colonel who discharged his weapon next to that traitorous Iraqi policeman a few months back... His "technique" was apparently QUITE effective, although illegal.. And resulted in the suspect revealing his connections to a terrorist group which was planning an attack against them..

As I understand it, the Macedonian special forces detachment working with them then proceeded to eliminate the threat... (I believe they decapitated them and brought back their heads, if I recall the story correctly).
