Amy, re "Monthly vesting schedules are common so as to avoid such legal issues as well as the ethics of such a situation."

Based on SEC Form 4 filings .. INTC, TXN, SUNW, and ORCL use annual vesting. Indeed the only company I know using monthly vesting is CSCO. Do you have other examples leading you to believe monthly vesting is common?

Ron

AG should raise interest rates sooner rather than later, so the economy doesn't get too hot if it takes a solid year before interest rates have an impact.

Greenspan should raise rates only because he lowered them too much to begin with fighting a nonexistent deflation scare. There is enough slack in the U.S. economy that the "too hot" worry is similarly ill conceived.

Well, my feeling is that most everyone working in a large company in SV is looking, so even if they are not unemployed they may as well be. Also most software people are still out of work, but that won't help your area which I believe is networking.

Cisco recently made a bunch of full time people reapply for their jobs in a re-org. Autodesk also did something very similar. I think most large companies are very much in downsize in the USA mode, hoping to pick up staff in india. My feeling is that the only way we continue with decent job growth is if we keep the visas down, if they open those up again we go back down, since these visas are being used to move work offshore.

BTW your post to me included some comments about that female army officer in the photos. I hadn't commented on that yet, so I'm not sure if that part of the post was meant for me, but needless to say, I am shocked wrt the entire episode and am hoping for courtmartial. It is amazing to me to see a woman participating in an episode like that, I'm sure you feel the same. Since these photos have been floating around since January it makes you wonder what is provoking all these attacks in iraq.
