Something's got to change quick. The Iraqi people are not dummies. Currently they are getting kind of swept up in the emotions of war cries (remember the Alamo or fill in the blank).

We need to appeal to their common sense, they know what would happen to them if we back out. Its not like voting, they have to put their whole world view on the line in order to bring about a new day of autonomy and freedom for their country. Its more complicated, because if they back the wrong horse they know they could end up, estranged from their loved ones, dead, or in prison. Hope and pray they do the right thing in the very small window of opportunity that is now open to them.

It may take some work, they're now bombing each other in their own mosques......
nytimes.com

Kind of gives "..wacko-raghead.." a whole new twist - in their already too-tight turbans.......

John

ps: The next step will be to have one of their in-Mosque bomb-factories go off, ...which they will of course blame on Don Rumsfeld.

Yes hope and pray. Also keep in mind that we could end up like Spain who conquered the entire new world at one time but ended up bank rupt and still hasn't recovered. This petty partison destructive behavior currently smothering our strengths as a nation could be the catalysts for that. In which case our grand children will not give a hoot whether the Repubs or the Dems gained power in 2010. They'll be too busy applying for jobs ... over there some place.

"Let’s pray Iraq will be a seed of hope and tolerance in the Middle East."

If pigs could fly, there would be bacon in the sky too... but I wouldn't count on it.
