I'm having trouble reconciling this with the notion of American exceptionalism and our mission to westernize the ME. Either we think our way is better than theirs or we don't. If we are pitching the idea that our way is better, then we have set ourselves up for a higher standard and we must honor that. If we don't demand a higher standard from ourselves, then who are we to presume to convert them.
