Kerry, who just yesterday called for Rumsfeld's removal, obviously has some explaining to do. His rush to judgement demonstrates his lack of seriousness regarding the war on terror and in leadership. He had the chance to show some genuine leadership by calling for passions to cool until Rumsfeld had a chance to respond and more facts became known. Once again, he put his presidential aspirations ahead of his nation's security and tried to exploit a bad situation for his own personal gain.

The numbers will go up even higher when Americans see Rumsfeld explain what took place and how it is being handled. There is absolutely no doubt that mistakes were made on his part, and he took complete responsibility in his opening remarks. Rumsfeld is plainly doing what he thinks is best for the country and had to explain more than once to a few democrats that no one within the Pentagon had seen the pictures before they were illegally released to CBS and shown on their 60 minutes show. For those who don't know....and forgive me, I am not a lawyer.....the pictures were part of a criminal trial that has been taking place since March and were only there to protect the individuals being prosecuted in that trial. No one was allowed to see those pictures including the President and Sec of Defense.

It was irresponsible and just plain dumb to imply that Rumsfeld should resign or be removed by articles of impeachment when he hadn't had even been heard.

These critics want every person that has been charge with conducting this war, including Military, Defense and State to be superman, and if they don't live up to their unrealistic standards, to be fired.

They come off looking unreasonable, unprofessional, petty and above all partisan when they pull that crap. This does not look good to Americans who understand the stakes and that we, as a nation, are at war.

(sometimes I just want to write that in big, bolds letters in hopes it will sink in......WE ARE AT WAR

<It would be hard to imagine a more shocking and dispiriting event to occur in the war than the revelation that American troops engaged in the disgusting behavior seen in these photographs. >

Wow, that's lacking imagination. I think what was shown was quite benign as far as authoritarian horrors go.
