I remember the LOYALTY OATH.. All professors and A.D's had to sign an oath that they were not not never had been a member of the Communist Party. This was in the fifties when McCarthy was rampant in his zeal to search out all those in government and universities who could be suspect. I had friends at PS who would not sign. They said it violated their constitutional rights. They were fired. This is when at the tender age of 21 I developed and interest in how our government works. My life has been with more liberal thinking people than the conservative WASP family I was reared in.. I think that it has benefited me. I am thankful for the exposure I have had which to me reflects the agenda of the more liberal.... thinking people whom I have met. They have more HEART. That is it all plain and simple.
