Ted,

re: So there you have it........they have a morality that fits whatever scenario comes up.......an inconsistent morality if you will. A morality that works for all seasons.

It is interesting. But frankly I feel more than a slight shift from the hawks side. That they are at least thinking this "war" was handled very poorly, if it wasn't an outright mistake from the start. Seeing those pictures is a slap in the face, a moment that heightens your senses, makes you review your entrenched beliefs. For all sides, really.

So IMHO it's not the time to say "I told you so" wrt the "war". As bad as this situation is, it is also an opportunity to clear the air wrt our national conscious, and set a new and better direction, with a consensus from all sides. 9/11 shook us to the core, and (IMHO) sent us down a dark path. This "event" may be the other end of that path, and the decisions we make, together, may lead to a reawakening of what this country stands for.

As bad as this was, it could make us better and stronger, after a really unsettling period of self examination. Let's see how the politicians handle it.
