The group of moderate Shia and Sunni Muslims as well as Kurds also demanded the US-appointed Governing Council should be sidelined.

Sound alright to me, on its face. That's what democracy is all about...

What's important to me is that they remain moderate, and that they are unified between ethnicities.

The solution HAS to be Iraqi. The CPA, or even the UN, have the responsibility of guiding the creation of the Iraqi political structure so that the rights of all parties are protected equally.

The Governing Council's Shia members in particular object to the UN's direct involvement in planning the country's next government, and disagree with al-Ibrahimi's belief that a post-30 June interim government should be comprised of technocrats.

Al-Ibrahimi has said Governing Council members should concentrate on fighting for power in elections, scheduled for January next year.

They should be nervous, given the relative intransigence and partisanship they have displayed over the past year.

Again... I don't have a problem with this..

This could be a positive sign.. (though you might believe it to be negative).
