Actually, I think he is telling the truth. I've read that he had written his parents that the MP's were directed to abuse the prisoners. That was before the revelations. And he also had written that he had told a Lt. Colonel at the prison about the actions he had witnessed, and the response was "Don't worry about it".

A person on this very thread has boasted about his friend extracting information from a prisoner by threatening to "beat the crap out of him". This person is the one complaining most loudly about giving the photographs to 60 miutes. Calling that a crime.

The culture of abusing prisoners was very much favored. As long as the perpetrators could use slogans to hide the truth. With the pictures it got harder. But don't worry. The "god told me so" crowd will regroup. Their new slogan will be "No price is too high for liberty". Or some other fine sounding phrase.
