I love this post. There were several like it on the Don't Stop the War thread- posts which guaranteed that the evidence on WMD's and yellow cake were absolutely true. Do you suppose we can get our money back from those people? How many billion have we spent so far in Iraq? I think we need to divide up what we've spent, and make everyone who was wrong, but who was sure they were right, pay up.

:-)

Massive conspiracy theories don't make sense. And a massive conspiracy is what it would take to produce a lot of fake evidence. And given the differences of opinion on the proper course to take toward Iraq, a massive conspiracy would be leaked by someone, probably many someone's. No, we can be assured the evidence presented to the UN was exactly what it seemed to be.
That's why the antis ignore the evidence offered and strive to divert attention to irrelevant plagiarism charges

What exactly are our "own interests" in this matter? Not fighting terrorism. That dog won't hunt. And Iraq doesn't pose a danger to anyone at the moment. So what exactly is "our interest"? At this moment I would think it really ought to be securing our country against the real perpetrators of 9/11, who aren't in Iraq.

One of the reasons that I have pretty much stopped reading the political threads on S.I. over the past couple of weeks is directly related to this last paragraph. I cannot comprehend how absolutely *stupid* people are for continuing to want to blast the hell out of Iraq. Honestly.. how is it that supposedly intelligent people can't add 2 + 2 and realize that "capturing" Iraqi people, holding them in prisons, shooting the hell out of their cities, and carrying on guerrilla warfare with them in their owned damned country now that their oppressive dictator has been purged... doesn't make one damned bit of sense -- at least not to a helluva lot of the people living outside of the U.S. Go figure it. Personally, I'm so sick of it all that I've kind of "turned off" the news and don't really want to know what the U.S. is even doing anymore. I'm certainly not alone in thinking this even though it's a bit of a cop-out as people in the rest of the world should be screaming STOP THIS MADNESS!!!! But the truth is, the U.S. will do whatever the U.S. wants to do, so it's pointless to express an opinion. Better to just turn your back and try not to care -- which is really why nations around the world aren't exactly lining up to play the game in Iraq. Thank you, no, but we'd really rather not get involved in whatever this weirdo adventure is. Seriously, if not for the gross sickness of all of the disgusting porn-torture stuff that has spewed out over the past week, I guess that most of us in the rest of the free world would have resigned ourselves to the fact that the U.S. is just going to barge along doing what it's doing. However, after seeing all of the porn-torture...well... I don't know what to think anymore.... It's bizarre. What a thing to see happening to the people who were supposed to be "liberated". Is this about making someone *pay* for 9/11...even if they didn't have anything to do with it? What in hell in the point of what's going on? Does anyone even know anymore? Frankly, I'm just disgusted... better to try not to read the newspapers or see the news and try to forget that this is even going on....
