Here is yet another place you are utterly and hopelessly wrong. In the Crusades, the head of the Christian church called for war on the heathens. Uh. This is not another "place," but the same place, visited again with typical philistine stupidity. Urban did indeed call for war against the heathens, but against heathens who caused an infraction against Catholics and only in one small region of the world. Islam calls for murder, not war, but murder of innocent people all over the world, people who have nothing at all to do with an infraction against islam. That is a huge difference. Today, a minor cleric (not even an Ayatollah, much less a Grand Ayatollah) calls for jihad - the equivalent of a Catholic priest calling for a crusade. With regards to church authority, it is the difference between the President signing a treaty, and say, you. You betray much ignorance here. The Catholic system is a strict heirarchy whereas the islamic system is not. So you can't legitimately compare priests in the first system to clerics in the second because the fundamental structures of each system differ radically. A priest, by virtue of the Catholic system, ultimately answers to the Pope. A cleric does not necessarily answer to anyone but his followers. When an islamic leader enforces his murderous will such that it results in the support, both overtly and tacitly, of millions of muslims without significant challenge of an contrary islamic view, the reasoned person is left to conclude that this murdering islam is the prevailing islam. No comparison. Bozo Laden's call for jihad has about as much Islamic authority as if your local priest called for a Crusade. What a friggin' twit. The priest answers to the Pope. Heck, even protestant pastors answer to other Protestants. Should either a priest or a Protestant pastor rise up to call for murdering innocent unattached people in the way islam does, the entire world of Christendom would come crashing down on them in a very tangible way, completely isolating them. That is not happening in islam, despite that islamic murders have been occurring for ages on end. The support for murder is wide and deep in islam. As far as Islam's response to the WTC attacks, they have been numerous and loud. You simply choose not to listen. Here are a few, from a newspaper advertisement taken out in the New York Times right after 9/11: Please. Terrorists themselves, like Arafat condemned 911. It is easy to do this, especially since it potentially helps politically. While these impotent voices were whining behind the safety of their computer keyboards concerning their non-authoritative, debateable views of islam, millions of far more potent muslims across the whole world were taking to the streets to rejoice about the bombings. Hundreds of thousands of other even more potent muslims were actively plotting the next series of murders in other countries, obviously two of which were Spain and Indonesia, this, with the support of these cheering muslims. Without a subtantive counter-defining islamic contingent, prevailing islam is murderous and its ubiquity makes it the only islam that truly matters. Subsequent Muslim opinion has turned against Bush and the US for our mishandling of Iraq. However, there is no respected, high ranking Muslim church leader calling for jihad - just a bunch of bozo terrorists. Ranking in islam is meaningless. The muslims who have authority to cause tens of thousands of people to murder completely innocent people all over the earth, that person is effectively of high rank. It does not matter at all that a dusty Grand Crapmeister in Jordan speaks out of both sides of his mouth when countless other muslims are actively seeking the deaths of your entire family - and for no good reason at all. You may talk "good" islam until you croak, but if islam's people are willing to give support to, protect and sustain the murderers right amongst them, then "good" islam effectively does not exist. If it does exist, it has no authority and is therefore worthless. As usual, your ignorance of reality is just too obvious to ignore. And you are a friggin' numbskull, numbskull. You're in for a mighty letdown when your bubble of self delusion bursts, and Bush is thrown out on his ear. Keep the meds close when that happens - hey, it works for Cyberken. If Bush loses, then you numbskulls will likely get the hurting you deserve. Kerry is a fraud, pal. No fraud like Kerry will have the guts to do what he thinks is right. He will instead be listening to you and to anything he thinks will give him something. In the end, he will leave you begging for mercy. Of course none of this makes sense to you, so myopic you numbskulls are. You cannot see the implications of events and think enough in essentials to develop a reasoned response to them.
