I don't believe that there is actually a "War on Terrorism" anymore. Not since we overthrew the Taliban in Afghanistan.

It's theoretically possible that getting rid of Saddam made terrorism less likely, for the short term, but it may have also made it more likely. Saddam kept a pretty short leash on the Iraqi people, and it doesn't appear that he was eager to inflict terrorism on America, unlike, say, Al Sadr and the other Shia sock puppets of the Iranian mullahs.

If it really was Zarqawi who said we were cramping his style in Iraq, that's good. I don't see any particular reason to believe this after the dozenth or so big hoopla about documents found in Iraq that proved to be outright forgeries, but hope springs eternal and all that.

If John Kerry wins the presidency, or Tom Daschle leads the Senate democrats back to a majority, I believe we will lose the war on terror.

It's going to be a long war. If the Democrats win this fall, the Republicans will have plenty of chances to regain control later. And hopefully they will have learned a couple of lessons from the last time they were out of power, such as: 1) Focusing on the nation's real problems instead of obsessing about the President's peccadillos; and 2) Finding a higher caliber candidate with broader national appeal than Bush (such as Rudy Giuliani).
