re: The terrorists or Islamic extremists do not want peace. They want the destruction of America.

Bull sh-t, they want to be left alone, self-determination, in their own corner of the world.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you believe that?
Was 9/11 born of that desire?
How about the attack on the Cole?

Did we do something to "deserve" those attacks, i.e,
interfered with their "desire to be left alone,
self determination, in their own corner of the world"?
If so, what did we do?

Why was war declared on us in 1998?

I've been reading a number of opinions around SI
concerning our "creation" of more terrorists,
yadda yadda yadda.

But the current Iraq situation does not explain
what took place years before the invasion, does it?

I'm curious as to how you reconcile these issues.

John, is my position on the issues confusing to you? Do I run away from stating my opinion? Do I hide behind John Kerry? Let me know what you think.

Only a complete idiot would compare WWII with the "war" on terrorism. WWII was a war between states... the "war" on terrorism is a police action against political vandals. Who the hell is it you want to surrender? Palestine!?! You want 50 worldwide Al Qaeda cells to simultaneously call Bush and say "we give up, Oh Christian One"? What's your end game, except "killing the cockroaches"? Did you ever note that bombs are not the best way to kill cockroaches (colateral damage, kill 10 cockroaches, destroy everything for a mile around)?

Maybe "the good Muslims" for miles around will figure out they must get off the fence? My point for the Japanese enemy in WWII was they would not surrender until killed. Suicide, kill Americans at any costs. Tactics and results look the same to me.

Bull sh-t, they want to be left alone, self-determination, in their own corner of the world.

Are you advocating abandoning Israel? Stop buying middle east oil?

What, destroy Islam? Kill all Al Qaeda?

Only goal there is. Kill them or be killed. Is there a better one?

Draw me a picture of what victory looks like, and tell me how we get there... especially from the hell that is here and now.

We've made a mess of the ME... there is no telling where that is going to lead. The best efforts of generations of careful and cautious diplomacy has been laid to waste... and the world has been made into a very dangerous place, from both a political and economic perspective.

Americas fine reputation in the world has been completely destroyed, and you and Rush and your ilk take pride.

How was everything great until Bush took over? The problem is we are not of the Islam faith to these radicals. Anything else is noise. Kill Jews, kill Americans. Ok, we pull out of the middle east John, then what? They get nukes? They attack Israel who has nukes? To me it's a clear now or later issue.

There is plenty of oil in Alaska and off the coast of California. If you want to "fix" the middle east problem, stop sending spare parts. Hard to desalinate water without American cash and technology. Of course we'd be right back where we started with the French and Germans and Russians financing the radical's attacks against America would we not?
