Islamism is just getting started, and it's spreading. Why? I am no expert but I think it's a result of wealth and globalization in Muslim countries. They are morphing globalization into something Islamic. If you study the history of the Silk Road, the world of Islam appears to have been one of the first globalized cultures, from the Turkmen in the Far East all the way to Indonesia and sub-Saharan Africa. Some very intelligent people argue that it's anti-modernity. I disagree, I think they are morphing modernity into something compatible with Islam. Why attack us? We're competitors, cultural and economic competitors.
