They are changing the basic equation of a mining company, by altering the 1:1 ratio.
If one objects to hedging, which manages risk and lowers the leverage to spot prices,
then one should also object to a mining company leveraging up.
Goldcorp did it with gold bullion, and although it worked last year,
they are one of the worst performing stocks in the XAU Index (down 33% YTD)
