We really cannot be sure who did this yet. Are you advocating getting mad before all the evidence is in? We did that already- and it got us in to Iraq. I think restraint is always a good thing, when the facts are murky. There are a million factions in the ME- wouldn't you like to know who to go after? Al Qaeda has a Fatwa- but a lot of other groups that are sympathetic to Al Q, but not aligned with Al Qaeda, would also like to kill Americans.

I think the conspiracy stuff is as silly as getting mad before you know who to be mad at. Wait for the facts, then take action. Wild and ill thought out retaliation is rarely a good move.

Yes, that was my point. If ANY left of center people are upset at Al Qaida for this atrocity, I've missed seeing them say so. To me, this reinforces the idea that to the left the only enemy is George Bush.

reacting to the story of the video of Nick Berg's head being sawed off

I didn't realize you were expecting people to cry out in horror every time someone died in this war of choice your country has set course upon. Should we all express our sadness, desperation, and frustration every time an Iraqi is killed as well? Or is every SI member to post condolences only after US casualties?

If ANY left of center people are upset at Al Qaida for this atrocity, I've missed seeing them say so

Murder is a terrible thing. Especially the violent death of a young person. One should not have to go around posting "Oh how terrible, oh I am so very sad!" on every SI thread to prove he knows it to be so.

I jokingly raised the issue of who would come up with a Mossad conspiracy theory first here on this thread. TigerPaw won, but neither with Mossad or a Jewish connection, so I'm not sure if he wins the prize of a trip to Dizzyland.

Despite disclaimers, my post was taken quite seriously.

You really have to spell it for some in very simple terms. All death and abuse is abhorrent. Islamic Jihaddists purposely murder someone, not in battle, but held as a hostage, or in a car already stopped (filled with a pregnant mother and her 4 children). Do these insane animals say, "sorry didn't mean it?" Do they investigate?

No, they proudly video it and publish it to show their great victory. They even justify it by claiming it is in retaliation for embarrassment to the Iraqi prisoners.

Anyone who thinks that Berg would not have suffered the same fate as Pearl if there had been no prisoner scandal is deluding himself or herself.

Anyway, you need to spell it out here or someone will say you are only upset with American deaths.

If someone can't see the inherent evil in what was done to Berg, the cowardice, the intentionally making it graphic, that person should question his or her humanity.
