I don't see a good reason to doubt who did it. And plenty of reason to see it as what it obviously is. Pretending that AQ and Zarqawi didn't commit this act is like pretending AQ didn't commit 911 - which BTW many of the same people who "doubt" the Berg tape also believe.

Zarqawi is leading a terror group in Iraq. He is al Qaida. His group has killed Americans before. Al Qaida has even beheaded an American captive before (Pearl in Pakistan). They videotaped that beheading too and released it.

Let's assume there were a band of bank robbers called the James gang in Kansas. They've robbed dozens of banks and have a habit of boasting of their crimes after the fact. One day the Sedalia Kansas bank gets robbed. Afterward a videotape of the robbery to the local paper boasting of the successful crime and claiming credit for it - as they have done before. Now suppose people immediately say, wait a minute, we don't really know that was the James gang who robbed the Sedalia bank. Why it could have been the sheriff and some of his deputies wearing bandanas over their faces. Sure, that's the ticket. Now would those people really be rational? No.
