As the baby boomers take power I'm of the opinion that military service is not relevant. Many objected to Vietnam and I don't blame them. It seems to me that if you think Vietnam was a waste then you'd be willing to overlook anyone who attempted to avoid going there. I never held it against Clinton that he didn't go to Vietnam.

Yeah but FDR wasn't a "chickenhawk". He had a legitimate war dropped into his lap.

These "chickenhawks" are too meek to do the deed themselves (eg. most avoided Vietnam any way they could) but gladly send the "lower classes" to fight in a right wing "wet dream" called Iraq.

Dole and Bush are retired. They were both combat heros and both have serious questions about Cheney-Bush's Iraq plans. ALso include Brent Scowcroft and James Baker as critics of unilateral invasion. Bush Sr. knew how to use diplomacy to build coalitions and keep our troops and tax-payers from bearing the full burdens.

I am talking about current rightwing leaders. Not a single one has ever served in combat and that should be very telling to you. Also, Bush was not like FDR when it coems to Iraq. Iraq was a voluntary and unnecessary war not connected to 9-11.
