but thats different, that is like granting founding shares right? Which were never options anyway? Or in your view was this something that *would have* been options in a prior time? I'm not familiar with too many really early stage companies. Maybe your anecdotal evidence with this company is better than the PSS example because the fat lady seems to be singing on options starting late last year and this year, which was after PSS was structured.

Well, we know that all this attention on options is having a direct effect on how many options are issued now at all companies, that is a good thing. Ebay has said they are issuing fewer options, yahoo also.

Thats GREAT that you know of a fiber startup! I'm fed up with this lethargic tech economy. I don't mind a recession or two, but this has gone on TOO LONG. I think all this pressure on the engineering workforce destroyed the market for these products at the same time. grrr.

OT .. Kirk, restricted stock for a startup?

If the startup's stock is not publicly traded, that might be an oxymoron .. since "restricted" refers to limitations on its sale.
