A couple of SS PHDs did interviews with self made Millionaires a few years ago for a book. They offered a small amount of money to be donated for doing so. When asked, most said, "my favorite charity is me."

Giving is enormous in this country, more so than any other. This ties to the fact that we have more. If charity got as much as is taken off on income tax as given, the amount recieved would probably go up by a factor of 10.

Does the right or left give more? I don't know. I do know that charity is very high among all religious. My favorite memory of the attitude of the left is Tipper Gore telling one of her kids, "don't worry, the Government takes care of them."

It's not clear who benefits the most in the charitable transaction. I think it's the giver by a ways.

It is better to give than receive. It's more than a simple platitude. There's a lot packed into that sentence.
