Hi Rambi,

Yes that was good as was his description of cricket and of course, many others. Visiting the blob out near Perth, etc.

I also really liked, "Neither Here nor There" and Notes From a Small Island" of his.

No, I haven't read Blue Highways but it has been recommended to me. Have to check it out. And thanks to you and Dan for the Eric Newby name.

As for Sun-Tzu, I will probably just pick it up and read a passage or two and think about it. :). I don't know about me ever being into classics though, but you never know. "Never say Never". :)

Hey, you will like this, I hope so. We went to the library and got a couple of audio books and we asked to be put on a wait list for "Da Vinci Code". We have some road time planned in the next month and thought it might be fun. Light listening on the road..

Have a great day,

c

Hey there
Have been reading some more good books. I picked up some strange books at the dollar tree- they had Joanna Trollope writing as Caroline Harvey- and she was quite good. I thought it might be slop, but it wasn't. It's not Jane Austen, but then what is? But it was certainly enough to stave off the boredom of waiting in line at Vital records. Am also reading Vinegar Hill, which I have had in my enormous book pile for quite a long time, and never seemed to get around to, Truth- a history and a guide for the perplexed (this one is very very good- try to read it), and I am loving Disobedience - and not just because of the title. I have liked Jane Hamilton- but I think this is my favorite book- and reading it right after The Way I Found Her- which has a similar theme, is a real treat. It's always fun to read to really good books on a similar theme, and see how different authors twist the elements, to create totally different effects.

I've read all of Bryson's books, he is one of the most hysterically funny people in the world.

His one about hiking the Appalachian trail is a must-read.

I haven't read Blue Highways, but I read William Least-Heat Moon's book about his river trip and thought it was outstanding.
