Good to type with you, mike.

As for McCain, I think it's extraordinarily unlikely that we will see a Kerry/McCain ticket. To do so, for McCain, is to give up his political life as a republican. And to face the risk of losing and thus ending his life (politics is clearly all consuming for him).

Rather, I expect Kerry to continue to hint, as broadly as he can, that McCain would be his first choice for DOD Secretary; which McCain will deny but might do so in a way that makes the choice credible. Then, if Kerry wins, he takes the appointment, and has four years to clean up Rumsfeld's mess.

There was some wonderful kidding between Biden and McCain on Russert's little show Sunday as to Biden as secretary of state and McCain as secretary of defense.

I don't think the election is even close to being won. The roller coaster metaphor works best for me. I'm only hoping Kerry gets a sufficiently large lead in Jersey so I can vote for some candidate to suggest there is some political energy to the left of Kerry. Though I could simply continue to vote for, work for, and support Corzine as a good way.

Bob Rubin. Well, we could all see worse. Evidence the last three and a half years.
