<<<Even today, a non-American, like myself, finds it worth a comment that a considerable number of Americans still support the Iraq war and there is no doubt that most did in its early days.>>>

Well, like Machiavelli said, "Since love and fear can hardly exist in the same person, at the same time, it is far safer to be feared than it is to be loved."

Bush has worked hard to make America afraid. Fear is a survival mechanism that tells an animal to fight or run. The Bush Cartel made 9/11 happen, 9/11 made America afraid, and the Bush Cartel worked day and night to make Americans believe that 9/11 would be a daily event unless America went to war. Not to mention it was reported over and over that both Afghanistan and Iraq were behind 9/11.

You will find that support for the invasion of Iraq was highest at the point where the highest number of Americans believed Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11 - around 70% if memory serves me correctly. Something close to 50% of the population still believes this lie.

You can compare the difference to England where something like 70% of the population opposed the war. The difference is the BBC is more likely to publish information, rather than propaganda, and no buildings were destroyed in England.

Corporate America basically controls the media, either directly as in the case of GE, or indirectly through dependence on advertising revenue. Corporate America also basically controls the government through campaign finance and multi million dollar lobbying programs.

Could non US citizens have put pressure on corporate America through a boycott of American based products during the build up to war? It strikes me as likely. Did a majority of non US citizens take that approach to hurt the war machine where it lives? Decidedly not.

Like the man said; Let he who is without sin throw rocks at people who live in glass houses.
