My inclination is to say just that. And i know Israeli compensation will not get her any more consideration from the europe or the UN. However it is the right thing to do. It will play well in Israel, i think, and here in the US as well and give the sharon plan a little more heft. If payments are made, it should be in cash to the folks who lived in those houses not to the UN.
One other question regarding what you said: "Yes, the Israelis intend holding the corridor. They always kept control of the border via Oslo."
How did they keep control of the border if the tunnels were able to get through. Was it passive control or just the right to enter and patrol the area? I am assuming this time they are leaving troops there that will patrol the entire length of the gaza/egyptian border. How defensible is the gaza strip strip? Mike
