Don,

As someone who competed for (and failed) for a slot on the 1980 team - I can vehemently disagree. The Olympic movement should be above politics.

A lot of my friends who worked very hard to make that team, only to see it disbanded, were heartbroken.

It should have been like 1936 - go to Moscow and stick it to them.

Pulling out of the Olympics was one of the two good things that Carter did during his tour.

I heartily disagree. I felt so bad for those kids who had spend their young lives working for that moment. The Olympics should be above politics.
