Goodale's comments were interesting. Plus ca change and all that. In 1984 I wrote a letter to the editor about another Liberal saying the same thing -- your only choice if you want any influence in Ottawa is to vote Liberal. Of course the lady's timing was spectacularly wrong, as the Libs wouldn't call the shots for another 9 years. Of course I was wrong, too, in that having a whole bunch of western cabinet ministers didn't turn out to make a big difference during those 9 years.
