In fact, as bad as Isreal currenly is behaving, they aren't nearly as bad as some of the thugs we've supported, look up our involvement with the brutal regime of the Shah of Iran or some of the facist regimes that we installed and supported for years in Latin America. It really is a sad history that most Americans are totally unaware of. Even your country, how long could have apartide survived without the backing of Western powers? Probably not long at all, it took the big boycott in the mid 1980s to bring about the changes that led to the end of apartide. What is your opinion of the ending of apartide, being a South African? I guess it was just one of those things that eventually had to happen, and some people might argue that things aren't any better in a post-apartide world, but the change was certainly slowed by the U.S. and Eurpean power's willingness to look the other way and do business with apartide governments. It's the same old formula. We support a repressive regime, and they in return buy our weapons and further our economic interests in the region. It all comes down to money. It does seem like the latest Isreali offensive is sparking unusual condemnation from the world community, but it's all part of a long established program to feed the military machine and further U.S. economic interests throughout the world. Did you know that the U.S. is by far the biggest supplier of arms to the world. The U.S. fuels a lot of the wars and other conflicts going on in the world. The military aid which comes back to buy our military goods is an old game.
