you need to get some facts straight... You must be watching too much American tv LOL... you know those movies where Canadians sound British... well of course that's just bullocks ;o)

1) well mostly you can't... but often you can... we play it by ear..
2) we have minibars.. you must stay in the wrong hotels... (I'm starting to think you are really unlucky elmat ;o)
3)Write in the swimming pools: "Canada hasn’t banned bad luck. why are lifeguards a problem ? They also prevent other troubles. I like it when I don't have to deal with other peoples's stupidity at all times. I like it when my children can go to a safe environment without me being a bodyguard always.. I guess you don't like driver's licenses either or police ? :o) FWIW you can go to our beaches but in only the summer LOL because in the winter you need skates ... but I never see lifeguards ... just empty lifeguard stations... of another era...
By the way what are these guys doing with lifeguards... you better get back there and set them straight... holidaybrazil.com
One of Rios finest beaches is a 7-minute stroll from the apartment. A long, white sand beach, more prevalent calm weather makes it ideal for bathing. Big surf is usual especially after unsettled weather and during the short winter. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards and lined with small bars. It is floodlit at night. A cycle and blading route extends over 10 km of beach.
5) the topless Brazillians did show up :o)
6) drinks... Canada just ain't that Puritan anymore elmat... we've come a long way baby ... part of our problems with our cousins to the south... got pot ?
