"and we'll always remember 9 11" like that had anything to do with the subject.

That's the oddest thing. It happens on SI all the time. I've pointed out a number of times that, first of all, an estimated 70 to 90% -- certainly a majority -- of the Iraqi detainees had been picked up in sweeps and hadn't done a damn thing and had no information to give, though there was some misinformation given because when people are tortured, they may well inculpate somebody to stop the torture, even if it's an innocent person. Second, 9/11 wasn't perpetrated not only not by the ones we were torturing, but, hello! -- not by Iraqis at all. They might as well say, "We'll always remember the Alamo!"

That's one of the horrors of discussing this on SI. Even if some unfortunately don't care about torture in principle, wouldn't you think every single person in America would care that our representatives were torturing innocent people?

My impression is certainly that many people on SI do not care if our soldiers torture to death innocent people .
