>Absolutely no contact, military, police, or wage labor for a generation or so.

>Let the blue helmets enforce the separation. That means no more cheap Palestinian labor in Israel, but it also means that Israel has to stay out and let them build factories, jobs, and a way of life of their own. Israel also has to stay off their coast line and not disrupt their airports. Only then will they feel the incentive to clean up the neighborhood.

It sounds great, but there are three concerns on the Israeli side (which can probably be allayed to some extent by different actions):

-Each side would be denied access to its holy sites, and the Arabs have shown no willingness to preserve Jewish shrines... what about Jerusalem?

-Last time "blue helmets" were placed on Israel's border (in the Sinai), those "helmets" fled when the Egyptians went in to attack Israel. The UN had better be good and ready to police the refugee camps -- they do not do a good job of it now.

-It's not that easy to delineate borders -- whether we like it or not, there are literally hundreds of thousands of Israelis living over the Green Line (most of which are in newly-built suburbs of Jerusalem).

If you can solve those problems, then you have a reasonably workable solution worth attempting.

If not, you're back to the drawing board.

You need to separate the Palestinins and Israelis, but in such a way that the they are not dependant on each other.

Maybe someone could just build a wall between them.
