<<Those were not al qaeda members in the prison, they were iraqis.>>

I'm not sure thats 100% true. I suspect there were more than a few low level Al Qaeda thugs in that prison. I also suspect there were terrorists from other organizations held as well. Now most of the people were probably just as you say - Iraqis. But some of them were not which means no Geneva convention and let the games begin.

<<The idea that Al Qaeda is given any legitimacy and justification as representatives of Muslim is absurd.>>

Ya know, I'd like to think thats true but I heard a statistic the other day on one of the news channels. It stated that upwards of 80% of Muslims felt there was some moral justification in the attack on the WTC. I just about fell out of my chair when I heard that. I watched it later to make sure they didn't say 18% and they didn't....80% was the number.

The worst part about this is now we must be perfect from here on out. We wasted our "get out of jail free" card. I'd have rather wasted that card on Mosques. My stand would be this - if so much as a pellet gun was taken into a Mosque we're going to blow it up. It doesn't matter how old or important to your religion so you guys butter self regulate because we're watching.

Jorj,

re: I will state that I do not believe in situational ethics.

A good post. I agree with most of what you said.
