Circumstances develop during wartime that are not clearly morally black & white. Tenths of second reactions can make the difference between life & death. How can any human being remain unscathed by those circumstances? That's especially so for those Americans who have learned right from wrong. Is the solution that the USA must reject military conflict from now on? Do we relinquish the freedoms we hold so dear in order to prevent another wartime mistake in the future? Because, that in effect is our current choice--fight the terrorists with realistic expectations of the uncivilized nature of war OR retreat and allow those who have stronger conviction in their cause to impose their fundamentalism on the world.
