Yes, I know about Ray. He can be a deliberate pain. But I hadn't seen anything egregious lately.

As to booms and busts, I was so confident of a really bad impending bust four years ago (which happened to some extent until Greenspan started handing out free money) that I was sure Bush was going to have to take responsibility for it. Now I think that if Kerry beats Bush, everyone will blame the inevitable on Kerry.

But I lost confidence in Kerry when he jumped on the issue of high gasoline prices as if that were entirely the fault of the Republicans, instead of trying to assess the energy problem realistically. Crude oil is neither Democrat nor Republican.
