We agree Don! I think Kerry should flop right over to an antiwar, pull out now platform and leave Bush in the polling dust. Add to that withdrawing support for Israel until they dismantle all settlements, and Kerry would be made President immediately by popular acclaim. But even with these two immense failings, Kerry is still at least competent, if misguided.

People are still taking a look at the incumbent and deciding if they want to give him a second term. The fall in Bush's popularity is because as the people are taking a hard look at him, they are making up their minds that they would not like to give him a second term. After they decide that then they will take a hard look at Kerry. In the past 3 weeks that is what we saw the Independents doing. Now they are going to take a look at Kerry, more so when he chooses a running mate etc. Besides Kerry has been a very good closer. By not coming out and distracting the people, he is making sure that the people take a good hard look at Bush and decide once and for all that Bush is not worth it. And then when he has their attention, he will move to close.

Kerry's views on Iraq have always been different than Bush's. Simply put, if Bush had followed Kerry's advice from the beginning we wouldn't be in this mess today. And Saddam might still be out of power by now too a la Kosovo where the US did not lose a single soldier.

Now you see Bush trying to move closer to Kerry's positions. In doing so, he brings up the question, "how is Kery's plan different"? Tha main difference left if Bush copy-cats Kerry is that only Kerry can bring the world to our assistance. Bush can't. He is so distrusted almost no country will come to his aid.

All of Bush's positions have failed but because it's election time and he needs to start sounding reasonable. In other words, he needs to start sounding Kerry'esque. But it's too late. Bush will not be judged by the next 4 months by by the last 3+ years. His lies and failures will not be forgotten.
