i said heir--Where do you think mike gets the money to spend all day

I'll tell you where.
When I was a kid someone told me that living within your means is the worst advice adults give kids. To get ahead, you have to live below your means and accumulate. I never forgot that.

I got a guvnmant check for over 42 years so far and saved a little of every single one of them and invested it. Then I reinvested all the dividends for about 36 years. Then I did the tech stock thing for a while and kept reinvesting the profits. Then I sold it all a few years ago and bought bonds and income real estate.

When I got kicked out of the Army, I started a construction company...Made a little beer and bait money with that for about 20 years..

I never bought anything but real estate with a loan. So I never had to pay interest and got to save and invest a little more than other folks with my puny salary.

Lately I have been selling the East coast real estate and investing in higher growth areas out west. A NC university just offered me 4.8x what I paid for a small apartment complex 30 months ago. Soon I am going to make them the proud new owners. Also sold some houses and financed them.

Now I get nine checks every month (Yes nine, I just went and counted them up) and still own 2 small apartment complexes. I don't count the apartment income because I save it all.

It ain't that much but we still don't owe anybody anything so we get by.

I probably could have done better, but shucks what more could you expect from a dumbass old soldier like me. Besides, I did get set back paying for the three kids' college in full, so they would not have to borrow any money.

My dad is still around. He is a totally disabled, blind, retired Firefighter. I only have six siblings so I expect a real big inheritance. Then I'll be set.
