Sounds like a guy at the coffee shop. Lost his sight to diabetes many years ago. Worked double shift in the department for several months so the second shift got credited to another in the department who was dying of cancer so the dying man's wife could collect full benefits.

He can tell who's in the room by foot steps and voice. Though he hasn't seen a NASCAR race for years he can remember them. Ie. someone might say "when Rusty Wallace was leading the '98 Daytona 500 and Gordon was closing with 5 laps left" he'll butt in with "that was Rudd leading and Earnhardt closing in" and danged if he isn't right.
