"But he has to come up with something that at least gives the appearance of proposing his own policies and agendas, instead of just bashing Bush."

O really? Well out here on the left coast, I'm bathed in enlightened liberal thought, and it's all about beating GWB. Top 10 reasons to vote Democrat this year:

10. GWB lied to us (about the situation in the Middle East)
9. He's been quitely cutting back environmental protections
8. His administration is beholden to oil interests (i.e. Cheney + Haliburton)
7. GWB stole the election (from Gore in 2000)
6. He and AG Ashcroft (hated, don't know why) are taking our liberties away (Patriot Act, etc.)
5. He's ruined the economy (remember the good ol' days of the "new economy"?)
4. We've lost more jobs under GWB than any president since Hoover; greedy corporations are moving our jobs overseas
3. We had a budget surplus under Clinton, now we have huge deficits because of Bush's war and tax giveaways to the rich
2. He got us into the war in Iraq, which we are losing
1. He is evil (yes I've actually heard those exact words)

I'm struggling to recall hearing a single pro-Kerry thought articulated by my leftie friends. Is it possible to win the presidency by just making the other chap look bad enough? I guess we'll see.
