But then what kind of presidency would it be with both Democrat and Republican incumbents? What mutual policies would they or even could they adopt? Israeli?!!

Or, by sticking McCain on to Kerry as his most suitable running mate is the media tacitly suggesting that none of the Democrat possibles, eg Clark, Dean, Edwards, is up to scratch? Further, is it not a way of ensuring that heads, the Republicans win, tails, they also win, even if it's only as VP?

Anyway, it seems clear to me as an outsider that, increasingly, the US is becoming a one-party state as the electorate is given a smaller and smaller choice between the various candidates.
