I am now in Jakarta. I thought the pollution was big problem since we can't see very far and there is always a 'dirty' air. But then season started. Since there is no humidity in the air, the air is crystal clear and from this table -thorugh the window- I can see the hills down south where Bogor is. (about 30Km away). Then I saw the photos of the link. Pollution seem to be a more visual thing or a real one? I am thinking here: Is the air clear because the ground heats up, there's more wind (the days have a constant breeze during dry season) and that disperses the pollutants than when it is humid and no wind? 2) Water borne air is not clear, this has nothing to do with pollution and it is just fog. 3) There's pollution, pollutant particles need the airborne water to stick to it and block the view? the sun heats up South East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Air climbs there and sucks the humidity from the South China Sea and fall as Monsoon up there during asn a result we have the dry season in Java Island.

Sorry, PB, but the info there is not quite accurate. The reddish air on the wing of the plane is desert dust blown up the air. Like Africa's Harmattan. eces.org The fine dust climbs and falls thousands of Km away. This has nothing to do with pollution is a natural phenomenon. Beware of people saying such and such herbicide being bad. As soon as scientists modify a plant to use less herbicides they say the scientist are trying to poison the human race. Beware as well of the people saying such and such product is bad, this is just to enhance sales of competing products.
