Geothermal is pretty hypothetical on a large scale, and hydroelectric power is mostly spoken for, to the best of my knowledge. You can blame the demise of nuclear power on environmentalists if you want, that's pretty much in keeping with conservative dogma, but what really killed it was economics. This despite the massive development subsidy from the government, something that I understand conservatives are supposed to be opposed to as a matter of principle. Though if there's money to be made by somebody, my understanding is that the government subsidy thing is a rare instance where conservative dogma is quickly and quietly jettisoned.

Electrolytic production of hydrogen isn't that efficient either, but that's another story.
