As far as I know, no one has a practical method for producing it, and reliable estimates of reserves are non-existent. If I'm wrong, please point me in the right direction. At least for now, I've got methane hydroxide classed in the fantasy category right alongside using "Mister Fusion" to get energy from bananas. We are, after all, talking about a substance that's thought to be the cause of boats disappearing in the Bermuda triangle! It's a dark horse that might someday provide useful energy but it's not going to arrive in time to stave off disaster, and it's not ultimately sustainable.
