"Is pleasing the senses the goal of living?"

There is much room for speculation as to what motivates people. And there is room to discuss the meaning and value and future of religion for humanity.

But it seems to me that some things are too obvious for rational dispute. One of these things is that killing 42 school children by mutilating them through two vicious bears is not an ethical thing to do. This is one of thousands of examples that show the bible to be a primitive tribal collation worked on across centuries--through the superstitious and brutal tribal origins of modern life.

So what I am saying is that this thread has a broad tolerance for speculation and opinion about philosophies, sciences, and so forth, but that certain things do not lend themselves to serious debate. Again, an example: It is no longer credible that mental illness is caused by demons. Demons belong to a pre-scientific superstitious view of reality.

So when you find me mocking ancient texts, it is not because I cannot appreciate that for primitive people in need of answers to daily fear, and living in a world where everything was the work of "spirits" rather than natural events and laws, their belief in demons and flat earth and such was understandable--but it is because...for MODERN people--such turning against reason and embracing of a primitive and brutal past may only add to the mindlessness and brutality of the world.

I have found that people who take the following 12 simple steps and apply themselves assiduously to understanding, often experience a grand new world with unlimited vistas opening before them!
