A while back there was a discussion regarding the latest version of Zone Alarm (5.0)
This is from the latest Fred Langa e-mail newsletter which I received this morning:

From: Zone Labs Technical Support

Subject: Zone Labs Technical Support: Tech Support Ticket:
Upgrade Issues
...Thank you for your email Michael, We are aware of some
issues with the latest version of ZoneAlarm and are working to
have these resolved as soon as possible. So far, the only fix
for this issue is to uninstall ZoneAlarm Pro 5.0, and then
reinstall ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5. Thank you for your patience.
Regards, Andrew N. ZoneLabs technical support....

Finally, I (meaning Fred Langa) also heard directly from the ZA folks. They acknowledge the problems and said:

...we are gathering more information so we can provide the
best fix, as soon as possible. If your users would like to
contact us to help us get a solution that works for their
specific setup, they can do so through our Support channel:
zonelabs.com
Note that Instant Support is free. If that link doesn't help
you, you will be provided with a method to contact us via
email.

Thanks for the response, Cow!

HOWEVER, I can open the Control Panel just fine. And every item there appears to work EXCEPT the Add/Remove Programs feature. When I click on it...nothing...no response. i.e. Different symptom than the one that Microsoft article addresses.

Also, as it turns out, one can bring up a picture in IE, right click on it and and select 'Set As Background' to adjust the boot & shutdown logo. This also adjusts the desktop display but you can then re-set that through the control panel/'display properties' box w/out effecting the boot/shutdown logo.

Where do I look to find a list of all programs that are automatically started when I boot my machine? Seems like my tray fills with stuff I rarely use and I'd like to put a stop to that.
