I'm thinking Bush had better not try to use Ronnie's achievements to help his sorry azz.. The contrast of him and Reagan are too stark.
I remember President Reagan, his great way to communicate along with his partisanship at times.
Today I look at Mr. Reagan's good points.

the debates are always the most interesting part of the presidential campaign for me

Bush doesn't have to drive anything up with regards to former President Reagan's death - the press will do it and do it in spades, by their incessant 24/7 coverage

the state funeral will be an almost all day event - with non-stop positive droning by the anchors about how great he was, how he was admired, his "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" and the walled crumbled - it will be a big boost to the republican party - hundreds of hours of all republican highlights and pluses

you couldn't by air time like that
