I suppose we all see what we see when we read.

I for one was happy to see a mid level officer speak out from the heart. I think he made numerous points quite well including the facts surrounding his initial motivation and the welcome he received from the average Iraqi citizen. He is clearly disturbed by what he judges to be faulty and incomplete reporting and wanted to tell it the way he saw it and sees it.

He also made some comments and revealed some feelings about the ugliness of war. For some reason non-combatants never understand or want to hear that part of it from veterans. He will learn that with time.
